Christine Broe has been writing poetry since the 1990’s winning the inaugural Brendan Kennelly / Sunday Tribune Award in 2001 and gaining international recognition when awarded the Premio Cittá di Olbia prize in 2002. Swan Press published her debut collection Solas Sólás in 2003. Her second collection, Lifting Light, illustrated by her own artwork, sculpture and paintings, was published in 2015. April 'On the Nail' Literary Gathering

The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The April 2016 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 5 th April 2016 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This month guests are poet Daragh Bradish and poet and author Gerry Hanberry Daragh Bradish was born and raised in Terenure, Dublin. He spent his formative years in Bray, County Wicklow.  Studied fine arts and history in TCD. In recent years he has spent a great deal of time in Liscannor, County Clare.  Coming late to seriously writing, his first published poem was in Revival #18. He has since been published in journals in Ireland, UK and in Europe. Easter in March is first collection and is published by Liberty Press. Daragh has coordinated the Soundings for Simon readings to raise funds for Dublin Simon each year since 2010. The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The February 2016 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 2nd Feb 2016 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This month we present the first of our 1916 commemoration events with a performance of: Breakfast with Padraig By Colm Scully and Conor McManus “Breakfast with Padraig” is a Spoken Word performance lasting 50 minutes. It includes original stories and poems about 1916 from Conor and Colm. It includes poetry from Thomas McDonagh. These are performed live, to an accompanying filmed backdrop where the rising is discussed on themes of prelude, event and reflection. This discussion is tempered with song, personal experience and humour. It is apolitical and non-judgemental, rather raising questions and strands of thought that may enlighten and urge the audience to think more deeply about the reasons for and ramifications of the Rising.
